Hi everyone. I’m sorry that you haven’t heard much from me in a while. I have written some contributions, but they haven’t been posted [cough]. Anyway, about a month ago I volunteered to be the “DC Guy” for Comical musings, but I never got around to writing my introductory post. Well, here’ goes.
So, I’m supposed to write about what’s up with DC. Well, DC comics has been maligned recently, with shakeups in their writers stable, and with some other stuff. Oh fishsticks, I’m tired. Alright, forgive me if this becomes a free association thing. Anyway, with DC I feel like I backed the right horse. I’ve never been a huge DC fan. I watched the X-men cartoons as a kid growing up. I always kind-of thought Superman was sort-of a dumb icon. But I have fallen in love with DC (even as they stab me in the heart.)
DC has been making some sketchy choices lately: ex. letting Geoff Johns leave Green Lantern, but trying to continue the story. But at the same time, I feel like they are really trying to advance compelling stories. “Dial H” has been one of my favorite titles in recent history, and I will be sorry to see it go, with its final issue being published this month. However, it is being replaced with blah-blah and some other crap that Scott told me about this evening. [It did excite me when I heard about it.]
Anyway, DC is on the verge of another great publishing bonanza. Granted, some of the covers for Marvel titles (Defenders, Hawkeye) have been amazing recently. But DC is preparing to launch Villains Month (September) with the promise of advancing titles across their universe. “Ooooh please take my money for a holographic 3D cover.”
But for now, I am enjoying Earth 2. If I get a chance, I’ll update you on the 2nd string super-hero (and villain) melee. I will be interested to see where they steer the universe as an outcome of the “Trinity War.” And I’m still waiting to find out who the new Question is.
Anyway, this probably didn’t go off the rails as much as Scott had hoped. But I wanted to let you all know that I’m still alive.
Be blessed, and keep musing,
