Hi, welcome to our weekly post where we tell you “What Comics to Watch For On Wednesday.” We are doing our best to recommend a few titles worth your time this week. It is good to note that we rarely suggest mid-run titles, because we try to provide good jumping on points or oddities that must be seen to believe. Today, I am wearing a Scumbag Steve hat.
This week’s offerings:
Imagine Agents #2
Brian Joines is writing a fun, all-ages tale about Imaginary Friends, the people who police them, and one who would rule them all. Really phenomenal stuff said about this book after one issue. Looks like BOOM! Studios might have another winner on their hands.
Max Bemis is already a somewhat accomplished writer with his “Polarity” miniseries from BOOM! Studios, but now the front man for the band, Say Anything wades into the big market waters with his first writing at Marvel. With Max at the helm, I would assume that he will infuse this odd little series with some poetic darkness.
Afterlife With Archie #2
Harley Quinn #0
Although she has had some rough times recently, Harley Quinn is positioned well for a comeback. To get art from Darwyn Cooke, Sam Kieth, Tony S. Daniel, Paul Pope, Walter Simonson, Art Baltazar and others for only $2.99 is a great deal and sounds like it will be hard to pull off. To me, this is like Fonzie jumping the shark…either way, it will be a spectacle.
A Voice In The Dark #1
An Image Comics suspense/serial killer book about a woman trying to stop killing by being a late night radio host…that is just about the most different pitch that I have ever heard for a comic. I’m hoping that it has a “Dexter” vibe, but with comics! We celebrate new and groundbreaking ideas at Comical Musings and this might just be a good one.
