Welcome to our weekly post where we tell you “What Comics to Watch For On Wednesday.” We are doing our best to recommend a few titles worth your time this week. It is good to note that we rarely suggest mid-run titles, because we try to provide good jumping on points or oddities that must be seen to believe. Today, we are getting SPOILERific.
This week’s offerings:
The Vision is depressing, but in a touching, heartfelt, realistic kind of way….well as realistic as a robot family tale can be. Tom King is painting a “Norman Rockwell-esque” picture of the Vision’s family and the struggles that they endure. Most recently (the death of a child) <SCROLL FOR SPOILER. Also, my favorite cover of the week.
Blue Hour #1
The alien and human character designs from Chad Cicconi are very different looking and imaginative in comparison to mainstream illustrations. The story sounds interesting with the humans desperately trying to survive in the light of a blue sun. Maybe this will be the Indie darling that you are glad you took a shot on. Let me know!
All Star Batman #1
Batman must take Two-Face to a destination out of Gotham City, but the duplicitous villain has a two of spades up his sleeve. Every assassin, bounty hunter and ordinary citizen with something to hide is on their tails with one goal: kill Batman! Handcuffed together on the road to hell, this is Batman and Two-Face as you’ve never seen them before!
Black Monday Murders #1
Jonathan Hickman‘s latest! This time, he is messing around with occult/money/power stuff. Creepy. Check the solicit:
‘MAMMON’ ALL HAIL GOD MONEY! From JONATHAN HICKMAN (EAST OF WEST, Secret Wars, Avengers) and TOMM COKER (UNDYING LOVE) comes a new crypto-noir series about the power of dirty, filthy money? and exactly what kind of people you can buy with it. THE BLACK MONDAY MURDERS is classic occultism where the various schools of magic are actually clandestine banking cartels who control all of society: a secret world where vampire Russian oligarchs, Black popes, enchanted American aristocrats, and hitmen from the International Monetary Fund work together to keep ALL OF US in our proper place.
The Accused #1
When they killed (She Hulk and War Machine)<SCROLL FOR SPOILER in Civil War 2, it barely moved the meter, but now (The Hulk)<SCROLL FOR SPOILER is dead and it has “shaken the foundation of the Marvel Universe.” This one-shot is supposed to highlight the void that they left behind…
