Hi, welcome to our weekly post where we tell you “What Comics to Watch For On Wednesday.” We are doing our best to recommend a few titles worth your time this week. It is good to note that we rarely suggest mid-run titles, because we try to provide good jumping on points or oddities that must be seen to believe. Today, Hal helps with the commentary as he comes for a ride-a-long.
DEAUX: Hal and myself being classy
HAL: I need a haircut, and there appears to be a magic glowing cigarette coming out of my ear.? This is not a pipe.
This week’s offerings:
Deadpool Gauntlet #1
DEAUX: Every time I read the plot for a Deadpool comic I think, “well, they have really jumped the shark this time…” But, it turns out that Marvel hasn’t even begun to strap on their water skis because Deadpool Gauntlet has Deadpool hired by Dracula…Nosferatu himself…sigh.
HAL: Look-out Ben, Deadpool’s bein’ wacky!!
Sixth Gun #37
DEAUX: It has been solicited that this is “Becky’s final showdown with Missy Hume.” Front row tickets, please. My money’s on Becky.
HAL: Missy Hume has small teeth. (I assume that’s who that is on the cover; I haven’t started reading The Sixth Gun.)
Astro City #8
DEAUX: In our second fight of the week, The Samaritan fights the Confessor. Now, I don’t want to spoil anything, but I can’t possibly see this being a fair fight…maybe I am wrong and there will be some “Rumble In The Jungle” magic to it.
HAL: George Foreman is going to make a cameo?!
Egos #1
DEAUX: This looks like it’s some sort of “futuristic, David Bowie kills a bunch of COBRA Vipers” story…I am sure it is worth the $3.00….because, Image.
HAL: They misspelled “emo.”
Thor God Of Thunder #17
DEAUX: Some people cannot get enough Thor. Some people haven’t really loved this Malekith storyline. To both people, I suggest issue #17. If you hated Malekith’s story arc, then you get a jump on the next one with this last issue. If you loved it, then this is what you have been waiting for. Grab this issue!
HAL: “Less interesting male Wonder Woman” is at it again.
Prophet #42
DEAUX: Prophet is going to be one of those things that we won’t miss until it’s gone. It’s like the dodo bird in that way. I bet dodos were pretty sweet and that everybody liked them when there were only a few left. With Prophet ending soon, we should all go “pet the dodo” or…read Prophet.
HAL: Dodos were delicious.
Imagine Agents #4
DEAUX: Also, if you have been reading Imagine Agents, make sure to grab #4, the last issue, which comes out today! Dapple versus Blounder!
HAL: What is with the main FB image being from the add-on tag at the bottom of the post? (I assume super rat monster vs. pink blob is Imagination Agents #4.)
