Hi, welcome to our weekly post where we tell you “What Comics to Watch For On Wednesday.” We are doing our best to recommend a few titles worth your time this week. It is good to note that we rarely suggest mid-run titles, because we try to provide good jumping on points or oddities that must be seen to believe. Sorry that it has been spotty, but I have been BUSY! Anyways, for however long it lasts, it is good to see you again.
This weeks offerings:
Astro City #17
First, check out the solicit:
Krigari Ironhand. Tyrant. Emperor. Interdimensional scourge. Honor Guard’s greatest enemy. His rise. His fall. The death of one of Honor Guard’s own. And the secret story behind it all.
Then look at the expression on his face. Beautiful cover mixed with the promise of a guest penciller (Tom Grummett) and an Honor Guard death? This issue should be VERY entertaining!
Batman ’66 The Lost Episode #1
Batman ’66 highlights episodes and concepts from the old Adam West, “Batman” TV Show. This issue is the script for a lost episode of that show and is a first for a few reasons. First, the cover art is a beautiful, painted Alex Ross piece that is one of the most descriptive depictions of the character that I have ever seen. It’s also a first, because if this had run on television in the 60’s, it would have introduced the villain Two Face to the non-comic-reader far before he was; it would have been his first mainstream appearance.
Axe Cop: Bad Guy Earth #1 for $1 Edition
I’ve been telling you to check this out for 3 years. Now it is a dollar. DO IT!
Wonder Woman #36
New creative team takes over and has to fill ENORMOUS shoes. Looks like same old David Finch to me…and he better not kill one of my favorite comics. The whole community will be watching.
Inhuman #8
Black Bolt and Maximus are brothers and the perfect foil for each other. One composed, one literally insane. The brotherly dynamic plays out in a grand way and they are in trouble this time.
Multiversity Pax Americana #1
Morrison and Quitely? Yes please. Multiversity? Yes please. Multiversity is one of the best things to come out of DC Comics in a while.
Intersect #1
Ray Fawkes‘ pretty art promises people taking on new shapes and has a wolf on the front. Shea said to read it, so… I am expecting some pretty werewolves.
Moon Knight #9
Moon Knight is back at his psychiatrist…
