Hi, welcome to our weekly post where we tell you “What Comics to Watch For On Wednesday.” We are doing our best to recommend a few titles worth your time this week. It is good to note that we rarely suggest mid-run titles, because we try to provide good jumping on points or oddities that must be seen to believe. Comics, comics everywhere and nary a drop to drink.
This week’s offerings:
Deadpool #40
Issue #40 reveals Roxxon’s evil plans to create energy…all in a story with beautiful art by Scott Koblish. If you love Deadpool, this should be right up your alley.
Astro City #19
We continue the arc from the previous issue as Quarrel assesses her career and her relationship with Crackerjack.
Wild’s End #5
Only this and one more issue to go. One of my favorite new series is coming to a close. How many lives will the visitors claim?
Millenium #1
“Hey, I would like to read something that I am nostalgic for…maybe-ee…X-files?” Yes, there is an X-Files comic book coming out:
Fifteen years ago, the end of the world-the anticipated ‘Millennium Event’-was avoided thanks to the efforts of Frank Black and FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Or was it? Frank’s psychic gifts have been showing him that evil has continued to grow unabated in the world, and he’s trying his best to ignore it. But soon the resurgence of the Millennium Group and their quest to find Frank’s daughter Jordan will pull him into the fray once again, whether he likes it or not!
Zombies V. Robots #1
An anthology series with an established fanbase goes monthly.
The Walking Dead #136
There is nothing that I really have to say about Walking Dead. It is a pop-culture phenomenon that has captured the interest of the masses and continues to stay good.
Batgirl #38
Babs Tarr is just KILLING IT on Bagirl art…just beautiful and current and interesting. Really breathed life into this series.
Adventure Time Marceline Gone Adrift #1
Everyone’s favorite character from Adventure Time (mine is Abracadaniel) gets another miniseries. The power of friendship plays out in space!
All New Captain America #3
Loving Sam Wilson as Cap and looking forward to seeing him face off with Sin!
Star Wars #1
Disney…I mean Marvel finally launches it’s new franchise. Star Wars was wrestled from Dark Horse’s cold dead hands (4.05 billion dollars also exchanged hands somewhere) and is now given a superstar creative team to breathe life into it. Jason Aaron and John Cassaday doing Star Wars? Unless this really poops the bed, they will be printing money.
