What Comics To Watch For On Wednesday, 6/01

Welcome to our weekly post where we tell you “What Comics to Watch For On Wednesday.”  We are doing our best to recommend a few titles worth your time this week.  It is good to note that we rarely suggest mid-run titles, because we try to provide good jumping on points or oddities that must be seen to believe.  Rebirth is coming and Civil War II too (“It doesn’t matter what your name is!!!”).  Anyways, I am excited to be back.  You will see…

This week’s offerings:

Power Rangers Pink #1

If you were a girl in the 90’s, the Pink Power Ranger was your favorite.  If you were a boy in the 90’s, the Pink Power Ranger was your favorite…maybe the White Ranger too…Tommy was such a bad boy!  The cover shot we have featured is by blog-favorite artist Babs Tarr and is a variant edition.  With titles like Lumberjanes and Papergirls, this should be another shot of GIRL POWER from BOOM! Studios.

Hellboy In Hell #10

This issue marks the last chapter in the Hellboy In Hell series!  Does Mike Mignola take Hellboy to the last step that he has been avoiding for so long?!?!  His ascension as the Lord of Darkness?!  Probably.

Batman Rebirth #1

Hold onto your butts!  DC is rebooting…again!  All that I am excited about here is some fresh blood injected into Batman (no offense, Mr. Snyder) with up and coming writer and Ifanboy favorite, Tom King getting his shot at the big leagues.  Come on with it, Tom!!!

Revisionist #1

Frank J. Barbiere is good people and we have been excited to be around as he has gotten more famous.  In fact, we were supposed to do an “Interview With The Industry” with him, but never got it together.  Cheers to him on what is described by the solicitation as, “the first chapter of an all-new action/sci-fi adventure about fathers, sons, and time travel!”

Civil War II #1

Hold onto your butts!  Marvel is rebooting…again!  Oh wait….not yet.  This is just another Civil War story.  It’s timed closely to the movie of the same name, but not close enough to be considered “well planned.”  I am so confused by this.  But, it is supposed to be a big deal…and I am a Marvel “zombie,” so why not?

Superman Rebirth #1

Hold onto your butts!  DC is rebooting…again!  “Let’s Make America Great Again!” he said.  “Let’s Make Superman Fun Again!” they said.  I dunno if I am buying it…  Check the solicit:

The world needs a Man of Steel, but can Superman protect the world while raising a super-son with his wife, Lois Lane? IT BEGINS: Now it’s Clark’s turn to be Pa Kent and teach his son what it means to be super, but who is hunting Superman’s son-and why?

That just sounds weird to me, but HOPE SELLS!  BUY SOME HOPE!

Timely Comics: Carnage #1, All-New All-Different Avengers #1, and All-New Inhumans #1

THIS.  This is a GREAT idea.  They say that it takes 21 days to make a habit and I say that it takes three good issues of a comic book to get you into it.  Now, I dunno if Carnage or All-New Different Avengers or All-New Inhumans are good comic books, but for $3 for the first three issues of each, I am willing to find out.  Timely comics is a GREAT idea!

TMNT Bebop and Rocksteady Destroy Everything #1

This is an incredible solicitation and I am into it!

After their defeat in TMNT #50, the dull-witted Bebop and Rocksteady, everyone’s favorite warthog and rhino mutants, are feeling dejected and without purpose. However, when they stumble across a time-travel scepter, they realize that their craziest, most destructive adventure awaits! Will the universe survive?

Sign me up.
