What Comics To Watch For On Wednesday, 6/22

Welcome to our weekly post where we tell you “What Comics to Watch For On Wednesday.”  We are doing our best to recommend a few titles worth your time this week.  It is good to note that we rarely suggest mid-run titles, because we try to provide good jumping on points or oddities that must be seen to believe.  This is kind of a light week, where we are gambling for something good.

This week’s offerings:

She Wolf #1

This is my pick o’ the week.  I am intrigued and have quite a bit of trust for writer-artist, creator-owned, Image projects.  The solicitation removes any doubt that this will be good.

SHE WOLF is a surreal exploration in horror as the story follows a teenage girl who believes she’s been bitten by a savage werewolf. Soon after she begins to experience feverish nightmares that seamlessly bleed into her everyday reality.

You have my attention, Rich Tommaso.  Will you gain my love?

Deadpool Vs. Gambit #1

What happens when an unstoppable sexy force (Deadpool…he’s so hot right now) runs into an immovable sexy object (Gambit…he’s got sexy staying power)?  This comic will be dripping with sexual magic and I wouldn’t be surprised if the two titular characters ended up “together.”

Super Human Resources #1

Comic Book Resources says that this is “the comic that you never knew that you were waiting to read.”

The sequel to the sold-out, indie hit is finally here. Welcome back to the HR department of the world’s greatest super team. Super Crises International has been infiltrated by sinister forces. And stupidity. Lots of stupidity.

HR is funny by itself…kind of…

Rumble #11

The third arc of Rumble kicks off.  I have been interested in this series since inception.  It continues here!

Thief Of Thieves #32

I used to dig this comic a lot.  I have not read it in a while, but this is the start of a new arc, which promises a new competing thief in what appears to be a “Catwoman” analog.  I should check it out and you should too.

Civil War II Choosing Sides #1

Declan Shalvey can make a book great with his wonderful art.  Jim Cheung cover doesn’t hurt either.  Even if this is just good for art, it will be good for that.

Aquaman #1

When done well, Black Manta is a frightening and violent enemy.  Well, he is the villain that they are rolling with for post-Rebirth Aquaman.  The creative team seems truly excited to tell their stories.  You always want “good” Aquaman to exist in DC Comics.  I want this to be good.

Lucas Stand #1

The dude who did Sons Of Anarchy is making a comic and BOOM! Studios is milking the fact that he did Sons Of Anarchy to sell this book.  Everybody starts somewhere in comics and this book could surprise people.  Heck, maybe I will like it more than the show…
