This week, Vertigo released a first image from The Sandman: Overture, Neil Gaiman’s highly anticipated return to his critically-acclaimed title, The Sandman. Artist J.H. Williams III (Chase, Promethea, Desolation Jones, Batwoman) joins Gaiman to tell the previously untold tale of what happens to Morpheus after his initial appearance in The Sandman #1 and his reappearance later in the original series.
The Sandman stands as one of the few graphic novel series ever to be on the The NewYork Times Best Seller list, and Neil Gaiman returns to the story on October 30th of this year, the first time in over 10 years since ending the series. The Sandman:Overture will be published bi-monthly, and more information about the series is to be revealed at this year’s Comic-Con International: San Diego 2013.
