Welcome to this month’s Top 5 and I hope that wherever you are, it is starting to feel a little more like Fall. In October, thoughts turn to Halloween, The NFL (all in pink), my brother-in-law Freddy’s birthday (SHOUT OUT!), and the Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure. That’s right folks, it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are listing our Top Five favorite pink super-people.
5. Quentin Quire
For some reason, Quentin has always had an affinity for the color pink. Whether it be his rebellious hairstyle or even his full-body spandex-looking outfit in Phoenix: Endsong, Quire wears pink and makes it look fierce.
4. Star Sapphires
When you become a Green Lantern, you get a green costume. Star Sapphires get pink ones. They are driven and powered by love. They are all pink and girly. If an entire force of cosmically-powered, pink-clad women doesn’t make number 4 on this list, then I would look stupid.
I’m tired of talking about Gambit. His body covering (armor, chestplate, shirt?) is pink and his mutant power manifests with a pink glow. Whether it be stealing, fighting, or romancing, Gambit is about as manly as they get. He’s so secure in his masculinity, that the pink makes perfect sense here.
2. Atom Eve
Invincible’s lady and super-heroine Atom Eve is blessed with the unique power (unless you are Firestorm) to change matter from one thing into anything else. This is an incredible power to wield. Most of the time, she dates Invincible and flies around. The costume is pink and I do love Invincible though….
Mutant-killing, end time, sentinel robots are all kinds of scary. The power to level an entire sub-culture of the planet Earth is in a Nimrod. The fact that it’s pink is an interesting stylistic choice.
Note from the editor: In all seriousness, if you suffer from breast cancer, we wish you the best of luck in beating it. Keep fighting as hard as you can. We hope that this post gives you a chuckle in the midst of your struggle.
