What Comics To Watch For On Wednesday, 1/28

Hi, welcome to our weekly post where we tell you “What Comics to Watch For On Wednesday.”  We are doing our best to recommend a few titles worth your time this week.  It is good to note that we rarely suggest mid-run titles, because we try to provide good jumping on points or oddities that must be seen to believe.  Tons of # ones!

This week’s offerings:

Munchkin #1

If you have ever played the popular tabletop game, “Munchkin,” in any of it’s various forms, you know that the cartooning on the cards is top notch and that the game itself has an attitude that is both adventurous and clever.  We are hoping that BOOM! Studios brings that same spirit to this title!

Munchkin #1

King Flash Gordon #1

Writing duties handled by Ben Acker and Ben Blacker.  I just wanted to write that.  This book will probably be “ok.”

Uncanny Avengers #1

A new Avengers team is born out of the tragedy of the AXIS event.  Rick Remender has a big world with many interesting toys in his toy box.

Casanova Acedia #1

Matt Fraction is back with another chapter in his Casanova series.  Call me Mugatu, because Fraction is so hot right now.

Vertigo Quarterly #1.3 (Black)

BLACK is back for the final issue of the CMYK Quarterly. We’ve got some of comics’ top writers and artists coming at you with bold statements and dark accents. Join us as we celebrate VERTIGO’s favorite color and the anthology that’s been bringing it all year long.

Mind MGMT #30

The history of The Eraser is revealed as the final war begins!

Batman #38

Joker.  Scott Snyder.  Terrible haircuts.  Capullo.  Batman.  Comics.

Dying And The Dead #1

From it’s design, this looks like Jonathan Hickman is going to be getting back to his roots with a new creator-owned series.  I am unapologetic with regards to my excitement.

dying and dead

Muliversity Guidebook #1

It’s a very often occurrence that I have no idea what the hell Grant Morrison is doing in comics.  Well, for Multiversity, he has made me a guidebook.
